Method & caveats. Serious psychological distress in the past 30 days (K6 score >= 13), civilian noninstitutionalized adults aged 18 and over, age-adjusted to the 2000 standard population. Six selected two-year pooled estimates, keyed by pool end year; missing pools are not interpolated. Named sparse-series exception to the >=15-year filter: the PDF publishes six pools spanning 1997–2016. The series ends at 2015–16, the last pre-2019 pool in this table. NHIS was redesigned in 2019; K6 was not collected in 2019/2020/2022 NHIS, and no post-redesign observations are appended. The table cautions that moving the questions in 2013 may affect comparability. The checked-in publisher PDF is verified against data/cdc/READ.md before parsing. Breaks: 2019 NHIS redesign; K6 not collected 2019, 2020, 2022; ends at the 2015–2016 pool.
